Scottish Water Generation H₂O for Secondary Schools
Scottish Water Generation H₂O is a nationwide campaign to empower young people to protect Scotland’s most treasured resource: its water.
These interactive digital resources provide free, easy to use lessons for secondary school teachers, all carefully linked to the Curriculum for Excellence:
- Map Your Future: NEW careers resource for S3-S4
- Pitch for the Planet: challenge S1-S3 students to solve global water shortages.

NEW: Map Your Future
Map Your Future is an interactive career lesson for students aged 12-14. Designed to run across a 1-hour session, it helps students discover their skills and strengths, then see how they align with a future career.
It can be used for students learning BGE Health and Wellbeing, or as they approach Senior level subjects and their first work experience.
What you’ll get

- Teachers’ Guide – clear, comprehensive guidance on how to use these activities and how they link to the Career Education Standard and CfE.
- Lesson PowerPoints – ready-to-use presentation with teacher’s notes to help you deliver the lesson.
- Activity Worksheet and Careers Map – a handout and online interactive tool to help students define their strengths and map them onto potential careers.
Pitch for the Planet
Protecting water doesn’t just help Scotland, it helps the whole world too. With Pitch for the Planet, you can challenge S1-S3 students to participate in a Water Summit and solve real-world issues in the planet’s water supply.
It’s perfect for teaching BGE Social Subjects, or to prepare students for N4 Geography or N4 Environmental Science.

Request a Volunteer
A Scottish Water Volunteer could also visit your school, to answer your students’ questions about careers in water conservation and support your lesson.
Our Volunteers are employees trained to visit schools and share Generation H₂O‘s message. Register today to submit a request. Visits are subject to location and availability, but we do our best to accommodate all requests.
