New Wave
Introducing New Wave, a brand-new educational programme from Southern Water that celebrates all the ways we use water, shows how we can save more and empowers pupils to protect and value water for life.
The free resources have been tailor made for KS2 and KS3, with a regional focus on the South East.
New Wave for Primary
Southern Water provides everything you need to educate your pupils on the importance of water for life, whilst creating life-long habits to protect our vital waterways. There are three different modules for you to dip into, including:
NEW! Wastewater Quest
Add a splash of excitement to lessons on protecting water with Wastewater Quest. Get all of KS2 involved with an interactive game show assembly that takes pupils on a virtual adventure down the drain and into the world of wastewater protection.
Then, get hands-on with an exciting KS2 science lesson where pupils create their own drain juice and set up a filtration system.

Water Protectors
Through an interactive whole-school assembly and an action-packed upper KS2 lesson, pupils train to become Water Protectors by learning to save water.

- Waste or Save playing cards to print off
- Lesson plan, presentation, and activity sheets
- Home pledge challenge resource

Water Detectives
Water Detectives introduces young people to the water cycle in a relatable and exciting way. Through a fully resourced lesson for lower Key Stage 2, pupils are invited to explore their local area on an interactive map to find out where their water comes from and solve the case of the missing water drop.
Resources include:
- Ready-to-run lesson presentation
- An evidence file, specific to your region which includes: witness statements, a local printable map and water cycle diagram
- An online interactive map of the southern region and its counties
New Wave for Secondary – BRAND NEW
Turn lessons on the wastewater system into a fun and interactive game show by registering for the Wastewater Quest assembly, a FREE new resource from Southern Water.
