Scottish Water Generation H2O Challenge Terms and Conditions  

Primary:  Generation H₂O Make a Splash Challenge T&Cs 2025 

1. The Promoter  

The Promoter is: National Schools Partnership, a trading division of We Are Futures Ltd, 1 Paris Garden, London, SE1 8ND, who shall provide the prizes. The National Schools Partnership are running the promotion on behalf of Scottish Water.  

2. How to Enter and Winner Selection Process  

Scottish Water Generation H2O’s Make a Splash Challenge will begin on Monday 6 January 2025 at 09:00 and all submissions must be received by Friday 30 April 2025 at 23:59. It is open to all primary schools, all through and special schools in Scotland.   

To enable entry, teachers should ensure that they are registered for Generation H2O via the National Schools Partnership page and have downloaded the ‘Keep Scotland Flowing’ resource and ‘Make a Splash Challenge Submission’ pdf. These can be found on the registration page here: https://nationalschoolspartnership.com/initiatives/generation-h2o-for-primary-schools/  

The winning school will demonstrate strong engagement with the programme by completing the ‘Keep Scotland Flowing’ resource and sharing pupils completed ‘Make a Splash Challenge Submission’ sheets.

In addition to the teacher submitting students’ Challenge Sheets, there are further ways to support the school’s entry and demonstrate commitment to protecting Scotland’s water and engagement with Generation H2O. If completed, teachers should email (to the above email address) photographic proof or detail of the following:  

  • Social media posts  
  • Newsletter features   
  • Assembly or wider school announcements (e.g. other year groups, clubs, groups or committees)  
  • Sharing with parent and family communication channels  
  • Public display of posters or posts in the school or community  
  • Any other ideas students may have to spread the word!  

The winning school will be selected by a panel to include Scottish Water and Scottish Swimming representatives based on demonstration of quality engagement with the Generation H2O resources, enthusiasm and appreciation for the programme.   

3. The Prize and Eligibility  

The prize for the winning class is a visit to one of the National or Regional swimming facilities listed below for a maximum of 30 pupils to participate in an ‘in-pool’ session, water safety workshop and tour.  

Trip includes travel to venue, snacks and refreshments on site, and goodie bags including a family swim pass for each child.  

Available facilities:   

Royal Commonwealth Pool, Edinburgh  

Aberdeen Sports Village, Aberdeen  

University of Stirling, Stirling  

Olympia, Dundee  

Dollan Aqua Centre, South Lanarkshire  

DG1, Dumfries.  

To be eligible for the prize, and in addition to the entry requirements detailed above, the winning school will be required to be located within a 1-hour commute to one of the listed National or Regional swimming facilities.  

The prize will be supplied by the Promoter by the end of the academic year 2024/25, on agreement with the winning school. The Promoter reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize if circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control makes it necessary to do so. The prize is not negotiable or transferable. There is no cash alternative for the prize.   

4. Winner Notification  

The winners will be notified within 5 working days of the challenge end date. The Promoter will use the telephone number or email address provided to National Schools Partnership during submission or registration. All reasonable efforts will be made to contact the winners.   

If a winner does not respond within 5 working days of being first notified, then the prize will be forfeited, and the Promoter will be entitled to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from other entries that were received.   

The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.  

5. Limitation of Liability  

Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents, or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.   

6. Ownership of Challenge Entries and Intellectual Property Rights  

By submitting your prize draw entry and any accompanying material, you agree to: assign to the Promoter all your intellectual property rights with full title guarantee; and waive all moral rights, in and to your ‘Make a Splash’ Challenge entry and otherwise arising in connection with your entry to which you may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended from time to time and under all similar legislation from time to time in force anywhere in the world.   

7. Data Protection and Publicity  

Entrants’ personal information will only be processed by the Promoter as set out in its privacy notice: https://nationalschoolspartnership.com/privacy-policy/. The Promoter will only receive the personal information of the winning class’s teacher and not that of any other entrant.   

As required by the Advertising Standards Authority, the surname and county of the winning class’s teacher can be obtained by emailing the request to GenH2O@nationalschoolspartnership.com and quoting “Scottish Water Make a Splash Challenge”. By entering, the winner consents to such information being disclosed upon request. If you have any concerns with this disclosure of information, please email GenH2O@nationalschoolspartnership.com.  

8. General  

If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating.   

The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the Make a Splash Challenge where it becomes necessary to do so. The challenge will be governed by Scottish law and entrants to the challenge submit to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
