1. The Promoter
- The Promoter is: The LEGO® Group.
- The Partner Agency is: We Are Futures a trading division of We Are Futures Ltd, 1 Paris Garden, London SE1 8ND.
2. How to enter
- The competition will run (the ”Promotional Period”) from 12:00 on Monday 7th November 2022 (the “Opening Date“) to 23:59 on Friday 10th February 2023 (the “Closing Date“) inclusive. The Promoter reserves the right to revise this date and extend the period for accepting entries for the competition in the event of circumstances arising beyond its reasonable control.
- All competition entries must be received by no later than 23:59 on the Closing Date. All competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.
- To enter the competition entrants must complete a competition entry form and upload their film. The film provided must be in response to one of the three challenges set out in the competition literature.
Entries must be submitted online, using the submission form at: [web address of form once available] In the event of any technical issue relating to uploading an entry, or accessing the form, entrants should email: competitions@nationalschoolspartnership.com, and should include ‘LEGO® Build The Change competition’ in the subject line. Only one entry per pupil (individually or as part of a group of pupils) is permitted. Internet access required. No purchase necessary.
- The Promoter will not accept:
- Competition entry forms that have not been signed by a parent, carer or guardian.
- Responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.
- By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.

- All valid competition entries received during the Promotional Period, will be judged after the Closing Date, based on the competition judging criteria:
- Meaningful (you’ll tell a brilliant story to inspire positive change)
- Creative (we want to see that you’ve used your imagination to have an impact on the community)
- Effective (expresses your hopes and dreams for the future in a clear, easy-to-follow way, motivating others to share them)
- The competition entries will be shortlisted by We Are Futures. The final judging to determine winners and runners up will be completed by the LEGO® Group and Reggie Yates. The decision of the panel of judges (acting reasonably) will be final.
3. Eligibility
- The competition is only open to primary-school-age children aged 7-11 residing in the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland, except employees of the Promoter, agents or any third party directly associated with the administration of this promotion and immediate family of any of these groups. Entries must be submitted by the parent or legal guardian of the entrant, or by a nominated educator, with signed permission from the parent or legal guardian to enter on the entrant’s behalf.
- All entries must include signed consent forms for each pupil on whose behalf the entry is being submitted
- All entries must include the first name/names of the creator/s, school name, confirmation of eligibility by age, and contact details for the school / parent or legal guardian. Any entries which do not confirm the age of the entrant, and/or do not provide the required parental / guardian consent will be deemed invalid. These Terms and Conditions will bind the entrants and any parent or legal guardian who gives their consent.
- In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition.
- In entering the competition you confirm that the winning school will allow The LEGO® Group or affiliated agencies access to the school to take photographs and/or film content with the winning pupil, provided parent/legal guardian consent is granted and obtained
- Any photography/videography captured may also be used for promotional purposes across websites and social media channels of The LEGO® Group, affiliated agencies and Build The Change ambassadors, including Reggie Yates.
- The Promoter will not accept competition entries that:
- are automatically generated by computer;
- are completed by third parties;
- are corrupted, cannot be viewed, or arrive in a format that prevents access;
- are not original, or include copyrighted material or footage owned by third parties; or
- feature any content that could be considered libellous or defamatory.
- There is a limit of one entry to the competition per pupil. Joint submissions are permitted, but a member of a joint submission may not then enter again individually or as part of another joint submission.
- The Promoter reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition.
- Competition entries cannot be returned.
4. The Prize
- The school of the winning entry will be entitled to receive the prize of 10,000 LEGO® bricks
- Two runners-up will be entitled to receive the prize of 3,000 LEGO® brick for their school.
- Prizes are subject to availability. There is no cash alternative for the prize.
- The prize is supplied by the Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control makes it necessary to do so.
- The prize is not negotiable or transferable.
5. Winner notification
- The decision of the judges nominated by the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
- The winner will be notified using the telephone number or email address provided with the competition entry, after [final judging date once confirmed]. All reasonable efforts will be made to contact the winner.
- If a winner does not respond within 5 working days of being first notified, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited and the Partner Agency will be entitled to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the entries that were received before the Closing Date.
- The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.
6. Limitation of Liability
- Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
7. Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights
- By submitting your competition entry and any accompanying material, you agree to:
- assign to the Promoter all your intellectual property rights with full title guarantee; and waive all moral rights, in and to your competition entry and otherwise arising in connection with your entry to which you may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended from time to time and under all similar legislation from time to time in force anywhere in the world.
- By submitting a competition entry you confirm:
- the entry is an original work, is not defamatory and does not infringe third-party rights;
- There are no conflicting agreements in place that restrict usage of your entry;
- You have consent to use any third-party image/content in your entry and rights have been waived for such use. If a third-party image is of a person under 18, parental or guardian consent has been provided.
- You will provide any required consents at the Promoter’s request, failing which the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify you from the competition.
8. Data protection and publicity
- Entrants’ personal information will be used only for the purposes of administering the competition and will only be processed by the Partner Agency as set out in its privacy notice: https://nationalschoolspartnership.com/privacy-policy/. The Promoter will only receive the personal information of the competition winners and not that of any other entrant.
- The promoter will use the personal information of the competition winners for the purpose of administering the competition only.
- As required by the Advertising Standards Authority, the surname and county of the prize winners can be obtained by emailing competitions@nationalschoolspartnership.com and quoting “LEGO® Group Build The Change Community Challenge”. By entering, the winner consents to such information being disclosed upon request. - By entering the competition, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the Privacy Policy and you agree to its terms.
9. General
- If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
- The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
- The prize competition will be governed by the laws of England and Wales and entrants to the prize competition submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
