
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Competition 2023/24
Inviting young people, aged 16-25, across the UK and Ireland to explore how tech can be used to tackle some of society’s biggest issues.
No matter the background. No matter the qualifications.
What we’re looking for?
- Tech-based solutions.
- Around one of the four themes: Education, Sustainability, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, and Health & Wellbeing.
- The best 24 teams will receive once-in-a-lifetime mentoring opportunities, and the chance to win cash prizes of up to £10,000 as well as their own Samsung tech!
Phases of the competition:

- Phase 1 (Apply): 14th September–18th December 2023 – Young people from around the UK & ROI submit their tech-for-good ideas into the competition.
- Phase 2 (Refine): 6th February-31st March 2024 – 24 shortlisted teams (12 per age group) attend specialist workshops to develop the design of their idea and receive mentoring.
- Phase 3 (Pitch): 24th April–10th May 2024 – 10 finalist teams (5 per age group) attend additional workshops to further refine their idea and learn how to build a pitch deck and confidently pitch their product.
- Final Pitch Event and Awards Ceremony: where the winners and runners up from each age group will be selected will take place between 13th May – 30th June 2024.

What’s included?
Shortlisted students will be introduced to experts in the fields of design, tech, and marketing in their workshops and mentoring.
The resources provided as part of the competition are linked to the following subjects:
- School/college:
- Careers, PSHE, D&T, ICT, Science, Media Studies, Economics, and Business Studies

- All design and media-based subjects & all technology-based subjects and more…
Simply pass on the self-directed resources to your students OR run the Solve for Tomorrow Competition 2023/24 in Enterprise or extra-curricular sessions. Resources include:
- Teacher Guide that supports you in delivering the various resources
- Poster to tell students all about the opportunity
- Competition Entry Pack walking them through the steps of the Design Thinking process – used by designers around the globe – and details on how to enter the competition/FAQs
- Access to Innovator Hub website full of inspiration
Young people will build the skills to design the future and gain unique experiences to set them apart in their careers and their future applications, ultimately expanding their horizons.

The competition
Can you imagine a world where tech is used as a force for good to improve Education, Sustainability, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, or Health & Wellbeing?
All you need to do is:
1) Get your students to apply here
2) Download the resources and share the Competition Entry Pack with your students
3) They can enter individually or in a team of up to five
4) Enter their idea between 14th September and 18th December
Once-in-a-lifetime prizes up for grabs for all shortlisted applicants!
The best 24 entries will be chosen to take part in a series of workshops and mentoring in the new year, helping to take their ideas to the next level. With equal opportunities to win across two age categories: 16-18 and 18-25.
1) First prize – £10,000 cash prize and 3 months expert mentoring for both 16-18 and 18-25 age group winners, plus industry connections and networking opportunities!
2)Runners up – £1,000 cash prize, plus 3 months expert mentoring for both the 16-18 and 18-25 age group winners.
3) All Shortlisted Entries – 121 mentoring from industry-experts and Samsung employees, providing valuable experience and talking points for CV or job interviews.
Once they’ve come up with a game changing idea, they just need to submit here by Monday 18th December, 23:59.
