Scotland’s green job sector is growing fast, offering exciting opportunities for young people. But what careers are available? What skills do your students need? And how do they get started?

Now, energy storage developer Field, has created an interactive workshop challenge exploring careers in this inspiring new world.

Power Up: Career Exploration Workshop is engaging and easy to run. You don’t need to be a STEM teacher or a specialist to lead the session. If you teach students aged 16 to 18, just download the free pack and you’re ready to go.

Using the free resources, you’ll be able to teach an in-depth session on green careers and the variety of jobs available across the Scottish renewables industry.

Students take on specific job roles to complete a challenge where they get to decide on the best renewable energy source for their local community within Scotland. At the end of the workshop, students get to review their experience and commit to learning more about the sector with the takeaway materials.

Students then get a certificate and insight on how to boost their CV and applications to employment or higher education.

Developed with academic and industry experts, the workshop also covers important points in the curriculum. It fulfils the Career Education Standard, Scotland’s Learning for Sustainability Action Plan, the Skill Development Scotland Meta-Skills Progression Framework and the Developing the Young Workforce Leads and Wider Achievement Leads initiatives.
