By entering this competition (the “Competition”) you (the “Participant”) agree to be bound by these terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”). Any information or instructions published by the Promoter about the Competition on the National Schools Partnership website form part of these Terms and Conditions.
The Promoter
- The Promoter of this Competition is Samsung Electronics (UK) Limited, Samsung House, 2000 Hillswood Drive, Chertsey, Surrey, KT16 0RS.
Eligibility
- This Competition is open to all secondary school students in the UK and ROI aged 11-15 (“Participants”).
- Entries must be submitted on behalf of Participants by teachers or parents/guardians, aged 18+ who have gained permission to share and upload the Participant’s Entry to the Competition.
- Employees or agents of the Promoter or any of its group companies or their families or households or anyone professionally connected to this Competition are not eligible to enter.
- No purchase is necessary to enter.
Competition Period
- The Competition will open at 00.00 (BST) on 4th April 2022 and close at 00.00 (BST) on 25th July 2022 (“the Competition Period”).
Prizes
- There are four (4) categories of Prizes available to be won in total during the Competition Period consisting of:
Age Group One – 11-13-year-olds
I. First Prize:
- One (1) Samsung Galaxy A52 5G smartphone in Black for the winning Participant. For the avoidance of doubt, where the 1st place winning submission is a group Entry, each student in the winning group will receive one (1) Samsung Galaxy A52 5G each.
- One (1) Samsung Galaxy Book, 15.6“, i7, Mystic Silver for the teacher, parent or guardian responsible for submitting the winning Entry. For the avoidance of doubt, only one (1) Samsung Galaxy Book shall be awarded.
- A VIP invitation for the winning Participant / group and x1 accompanying adult (parent/guardian/teacher) to attend a Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Event where their idea is presented.
- One (1) TV screen + one (1) year subscription to education package – Samsung Education Assistant – for the classroom of the teacher responsible for submitting the winning Entry.
II. Second Prize:
- One (1) pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro in Phantom Silver for the Participant. For the avoidance of doubt, where the 2nd place winning submission is a group Entry, each student in the winning group
Age Group Two – 13-15-year-olds
III: First Prize:
- One (1) Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G-Smartphone (128GB | 8GB |Phantom Black) for the winning Participant. For the avoidance of doubt, where the 1st place winning submission is a group Entry, each student in the winning group will receive one (1) Samsung Galaxy Flip3 5G each.
- One (1) Samsung Galaxy Book, 15.6“, i7, Mystic Silver for the teacher, parent or guardian responsible for submitting the winning Entry. For the avoidance of doubt, only one (1) Samsung Galaxy Book shall be awarded.

IV: Second Prize:
- One (1) pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro in Phantom Silver for the Participant. For the avoidance of doubt, where the 2nd place winning submission is a group Entry, each student in the winning group will receive one (1) pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro each (each a “Prize” and together the “Prizes”).
- All Participants (as competition entrants) will receive a “Solve for Tomorrow digital skills badge” in recognition for their submission.
- The Prizes carry no cash value, are non-transferable and may not be substituted by the winners. The Promoter may substitute a Prize of equal or greater value for any Prize.
Entry
- To enter the Competition, Participants must submit an idea for a solution which uses technology for good to address a sustainability problem. The submitted idea must be no more than 200 words in length and this will form the core element being judged. The written idea may be supplemented by drawings OR photographs (maximum 50MB) to demonstrate the idea however these supplementary elements will not be what the competition is judged on. Participants must provide their name, contact number and all other requested information (an “Entry”).
- Participants may only enter the Competition once. If multiple Entries are received from the same student, all additional Entries will be disregarded. For the avoidance of doubt, each school may submit multiple Entries, but maximum one (1) Entry per student or group of up to three (3) students.
- Participants may enter the competition individually or in groups of up to three (3) students.
- The criteria for determining the winning Entry (the “Winning Criteria”) is: “An innovative idea that uses technology for good to tackle a sustainability problem with emphasis placed on the uniqueness and the degree of creativity, innovation and design of the entry”. The winning Entry must in 200 words or less, demonstrate that the idea:
- helps the planet;
- is innovative; and
- involves the use of technology.
- All schools entering the Competition must have a registered account with the National Schools Partnership.
- Any text, videos, images or any other content (the “Content”) which are submitted by the Participant as part of the Entry must adhere strictly to the following content guidelines (the “Content Guidelines”) for the Competition:
- The Content must not display the image or likeness of any person or any information about any person unless the Participant has obtained that person’s permission.
- The Content must not display any cruelty to any animal or person.
- The Content must not infringe any third party intellectual property.
- The Content must not infringe the rights of, or be defamatory or libelous about, any person.
- The Content must be suitable for a person of any age to view and must fully comply with the law and all regulations.
- The Content must not contain or display any words or images which are considered, at the Promoter’s sole discretion, to be offensive, sexually explicit, rude, disparaging or otherwise inappropriate.
- FOR SAFETY REASONS it is important that Participants do not include or reveal any personal information (e.g. name, contact details, etc.) in any Content.
- Entries containing any Content that does not comply with the Content Guidelines will not be entered into the Competition and the associated submission will be deemed invalid.
- Entries that are incomplete or damaged will be deemed invalid. No responsibility is accepted by the Promoter for lost, delayed or damaged data which occurs during any communication or transmission of Entries.
- The Promoter reserves the right at its absolute discretion to disqualify Entries which it considers do not comply with these terms and conditions or any Participant who it reasonably believes has interfered with the fair running of this Competition.
- The Promoter shall have the right, where necessary, to undertake all such action as is reasonable to protect itself against fraudulent or invalid claims including, without limitation, to require further verification as to the identity, age, and other relevant details of a Participant.
- Entries must be made by the Participant, and must not be made through agents or third parties.
- Fully completed Entries must be sent to be received no later than the end of the Competition Period. Entries received after the Competition Period will not be eligible for Entry.
Winner Selection
- Following the end of the Competition Period, Entries will be reviewed and judged by a panel of judges comprised of employees or agents of the Promoter. The panel of judges shall review the Entries to determine the top three (3) Entries which, in the panel of judges’ view, best meet the Winning Criteria.
- The decision of the judges shall be final. No correspondence or negotiation will be entered into by the Promoter concerning either the decision or the result.
- The winners will be notified using the email address associated with the winners NSP accounts by no later than 12 September 2022. The winners will have 5 working days from the date the notification was sent to claim their Prize by responding to the Promoter’s email (a “Claim”).
- In the event that a winner or substitute winner is unreachable, ineligible, or fails to Claim the Prize in the time required, the winner or substitute winner shall forfeit their Prize and it will be awarded to the next Participant selected in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
- All Prizes will be delivered within 30 days of a Claim.
Use of the Entries / Content by the Promoter
- The Promoter may publish Content produced by the winners on any of its websites or any social networking website any and all Content received by it in connection with this Competition at any time and for any reason.
- All Participants hereby provide a non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, transferable licence to the Promoter to use the Content submitted for any purpose, including without limitation for advertising the Promoter’s products. The Participant hereby waives all moral rights they have in the Content submitted to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- Each Participant warrants that they are the person who created the Content submitted to this Competition and that all Content adheres to the Content Guidelines. The Participant shall indemnify the Promoter and hold it harmless from and against any losses, damages, liabilities, obligations, claims, actions and demands, including without limitation reasonable legal fees, arising directly or indirectly from any breach of warranty set out in this clause.
Safeguarding
- Where a Participant is a minor, the Promoter reserves the right to require a parent/guardian/responsible carer to sign a declaration on behalf of the Participant confirming acceptance of these terms and conditions.
Privacy and Data Protection
- Other than as set out in these Terms and Conditions or for the purposes of operating the Competition, the details and information provided by the Participant when entering the Competition or claiming the Prize will not be used for any promotional purpose, nor shall they be passed to any third party other than the following:
- National Schools Partnership, the privacy policy explaining how the data will be held can be found at https://nationalschoolspartnership.com/privacy-policy/.
- Credly, the privacy policy explaining how the data will be held can be found at https://www.credly.com/terms
- The Participant hereby consents to such personal information being used for this purpose and confirms they agree with the Promoter’s privacy policy available at www.samsung.com/uk/info/privacy. The Participant may withdraw consent to such use of personal information by writing to the Promoter or by using the opt-out process outlined in the privacy policy.
General
- The Promoter shall not be liable for any interruption to this Competition whether due to force majeure or other factors beyond the Promoter’s control.
- The Promoter reserves the right, acting reasonably and in accordance with all relevant legislation and codes of practice, to vary the Terms and Conditions of this Competition.
- The Promoter will not be responsible or liable for: (a) any failure to receive Entries due to transmission failures and other conditions beyond its reasonable control; (b) any late, lost, misrouted, or damaged transmissions or entries; (c) any computer or communications related malfunctions or failures; (d) any disruptions, losses or damages caused by events beyond the control of the Promoter; or (e) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Competition.
- By entering the Competition, the Participant agrees to release the Promoter from any liability whatsoever for any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the Competition or with the acceptance, possession or use of any Prize (except death or personal injury caused by the Promoter’s negligence, for fraud, or otherwise as prohibited by law).
- All Prizes are subject to current tax law in the local jurisdiction, and may be considered to be a taxable fringe benefit to those who have participated and won under these Terms and Conditions. Winners are responsible for declaring, if applicable, the local currency equivalent cost of the Prize as earnings to the local tax authorities in the country that the Participant is resident.
- This Competition is governed by English law.
