The Edit: Be the change, shape it
Introducing: The Edit — a digital storytelling challenge unlocking opportunity for young people of all backgrounds in the digital world. Be the change, shape it!

Register now for this fantastic digital storytelling challenge, perfect for media studies, English and distance learning, and a great way to improve the wellbeing of your learners – with a ‘direct to student’ offering and streamlined resources to better support educators teaching The Edit remotely.
- Build Digital & Soft Skills – Every young person who takes part will build digital skills that are essential for the future workplace, helping you meet Gatsby benchmarks: communication, creativity, collaboration, creative problem solving and critical thinking.
- Develop Media Literacy Skills – Students will make sense of the world around them by engaging critically with Sky News footage and other resources.
- Meet Gatsby Benchmarks – Tips and tricks from Sky professionals.
- Supporting educators – Tools and guidance to help you teach more creatively.
- Be The Change – They will use their new skills as a force for good, unleashing their creativity and adding their voice to the climate debate.
- Available to all – With professional Sky stock footage and free Adobe video editing tools available to use on a mobile, tablet or desktop, young people from all backgrounds can get involved.
We are Futures (WaF) is managing this campaign/programme, and we will be collecting and managing various data, including personal data, to support the campaign/programme. We will manage this data in accordance with our Privacy Policy which explains how we use the information, and how to opt out of information on future campaigns.
The winners (one team aged 8-11, one team aged 11-18) will have their entry broadcast on a Sky News Channel, giving them a voice in the climate change debate and inspiring other young people to find theirs.
Other prizes include:
- 12-month Adobe for Education Creative Cloud subscription for winning schools
- Inspiring on-site workshop and entry to Sky Academy Studios (depending on COVID guidance) – all expenses paid
- Celebration event at Sky Cinema (depending on COVID guidance) and commendement certificate
- Sky Academy Studios booking and commendement certificate for runners up (two teams aged 8-11, two teams aged 11-18)
T&Cs The Edit in Scotland: We are currently working closely with Education Scotland and the Glow team to see if we can give access to Adobe Spark via Glow to all Glow users. If a teacher with a Glow account registers for the Edit, Adobe will provide a free 12-month subscription to Adobe Premiere Rush that they can use for the project. They will receive an email with the steps to claim their redemption code. Homeschooling: In order to qualify for an Adobe Spark for Education licence and the initiative prize, you must be linked to a school. We welcome participation from home-schoolers, but you would need to use an individual Adobe Spark account which does not have access to all features, and should not be used by children under 13. Data – Operational: We are Futures (WaF) will pass on registering teacher name, school name, email and telephone contact details to Adobe and Sky who are the partners in the campaign to enable us the run the activities. Adobe will use this information to set up and support the licenses for the software tools necessary to participate, they will manage this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy. We will update Adobe twice-weekly with the information so it may take a few days for your follow up. You may be asked for your IT contact’s details in order to setup your licenses so please try to have these ready. Sky will use the information to communicate with prize winners and support ongoing bookings on the Sky Academy Studio, they will manage this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
