Go bananas! And pears, tomatoes and carrots!
Amazing news – you’ve been selected for the Tesco Fruit & Veg for Schools initiative.
Claim your funding for free fruit and veg all year for your school.
We all know a balanced diet helps children’s development. In fact, a study by the University of East Anglia, showed that children who eat more fruit and vegetables have better mental health – essential for learning, friendships and thriving at every level.
Now, as part of their Stronger Starts programme, Tesco are providing funding for free fruit and veg, for a full academic year, to select schools across the country – including yours! This is additional support for those fortunate enough to currently receive free fruit and vegetables from the government.
If you received an email about the scheme, great news! Tesco has personally invited you, so you’re already pre-qualified. All you have to do is join the National School’s Partnership, if you haven’t already. Then fill in the acceptance form before midday on 19th September. Tesco will then send you a pre-loaded gift card you can use to buy fruit and veg in your nearest Tesco store.
Working with the British Nutrition Foundation, Tesco are making sure funding gets to the schools that need it most. Currently, Tesco have invited 400 schools to join the initiative, based on various criteria including the proportion of pupils on free school meals.
