1. THE PROMOTER
1.1 The Promoter is: Affinity Water Limited, Tamblin Way, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, AL10 9EZ.
1.2 The Partner Agency is: We are Futures, 1 Paris Garden, London SE1 8ND.
2. THE COMPETITION
2.1 The competition challenges Entrants to create a song or poem that inspires their community to save and reuse water. Entrants will fill out the competition entry form at school or at home and the Relevant School will submit the competition entry form.
3. ELIGIBILITY
3.1 The competition is only open to primary-school children aged between 7-11 (the “Entrant”) residing in the supply area for Affinity Water Limited and attending a school in the locality, except the immediate family of employees of the Promoter, Partner Agency, agents or any third party directly associated with the administration of this competition.
3.2 To be eligible for this competition, the Entrant must attend a primary school that has registered for the Affinity Water – Water Smart programme (the “Relevant School”) and provide a first name and a unique identifier by which the school can identify them.
3.3 Entries must be submitted to the Partner Agency on behalf of the Entrant by a parent, teacher or staff member at the Relevant School.
3.4 In entering the competition, the Relevant School confirms it is eligible to do so, and the Entrant is eligible to claim any prize they may win. The Promoter may require the Relevant School to provide proof that the Entrant is eligible to enter the competition.
3.5 In entering the competition, the Relevant School confirms the Entrant has the consent of the Entrant’s parent/guardian should the Entrant be shortlisted.
3.6 The Promoter will not accept competition entries that are:
(a) automatically generated by computer;
(b) completed by third parties or in bulk;
(c) illegible, have been altered, reconstructed, forged or tampered with; or
(e) incomplete.
3.7 There is a limit of one entry to the competition per Entrant. Joint submissions are not accepted.
3.8 The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry to the competition or disqualify Entrants if their or the Relevant School’s conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the competition or where there is or has been any breach of these terms and conditions.
3.9 Competition entries will not be returned.
4. HOW TO ENTER
4.1 To enter the competition, the Relevant School must either:
4.1.1 Send the entry along with a completed competition entry form by post to: Affinity Water – Water Smart, We Are Futures, 1 Paris Garden, London, SE1 8ND or
4.1.2 Send a scanned or clearly photographed version of the entry by email to: competitions@nationalschoolspartnership.com along with the information required in the competition entry form. The subject line must be ‘Affinity Water – Water Smart competition 2025’.
4.2 The competition will run from midday on 25th October 2024 (the “Opening Date”) to 23:59 on 28th March 2024 (the “Closing Date”) inclusive. The Promoter reserves the right to revise this date and/or extend the period for accepting entries for the competition in the event of circumstances arising beyond its reasonable control.
4.3 All competition entries must be received by no later than 23:59 on the Closing Date. Any competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.
4.4 Internet access is required if submitting by email.
4.5 Entry to the competition is free and no purchase is necessary.
4.6 The Promoter will not accept:
(a) responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or
(b) proof of posting or transmission as proof of receipt of entry to the competition.
4.7 By submitting a competition entry, the Relevant School agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
5. JUDGING
5.1 A shortlist of three entries will be chosen by the Partner Agency and an External Judge of the Partner Agency’s choosing, independent of the competition based on the criteria set out in paragraph 5.3.
5.2 Entrants on the shortlist will be reached out to via the Relevant School, using the telephone number or email address provided on the competition entry form, by the Partner Agency to gain consent before sharing with the Promoter for final decision. This consent must be given by a parent or guardian of the Entrant within 30 days of receiving the initial shortlisting communication, and a failure to give consent will result in the Entrant being removed from the shortlist and replaced with another Entrant, at the full discretion of the Promoter.
5.3 The shortlisted entries will be judged by a panel of two judges from the Partner Agency, based on their creativity, effectiveness and ability to inspire others to save water, including the following criteria:
- sends a Water Saving Message. Is positive and inspiring. Is creative and fun.
- Starts with a simple idea. Is short and engaging. Using water related language and rhyming in a clever way.
5.4 The decision of the panel of judges (acting reasonably) will be final.
6. THE PRIZES
6.1 There will only be one winner.
6.2 The winner will receive the following prizes:

(a) Individual prize: The winner will receive a set of six tickets to take their family/friends on a trip to their local zoo. The tickets will be given in form of digital vouchers.
(b) Class prize: The Relevant School to which the winner attends will also receive a school visit from a local wildlife expert to give a talk to the class. It is the decision of the school/class teacher to decide who will be attending the talk with the expert. Please note that whilst a child who is of an Affinity Water employee may not enter, they may still benefit from the prize if they are in the class.
6.3 The individual prize is awarded on the condition that the necessary consent for the Entrant has been obtained, such consent will be sought by the Partner Agency prior to shortlisting in accordance with paragraph 5.2.
6.3 The prize is non-exchangeable and non-transferable.
6.4. In the event of a prize being unavailable, the promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of the same likeness.
7. WINNER NOTIFICATION
7.1 The Relevant School of the winner will be notified by the Partner Agency during the first week of April 2025, using the telephone number or email address provided on the competition entry form. All reasonable efforts will be made to contact the winner.
7.2 If the Relevant School does not respond within 14 working days of being first notified, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited, and the Partner Agency will be entitled to offer the prize to the next eligible shortlisted Entrant selected from the eligible entries.
7.3 The Promoter accepts no responsibility if the winner is unable to claim, accept, or use the prize due to personal circumstances, scheduling conflicts, eligibility restrictions, or any other reason beyond the Promoter’s control. The Promoter will not offer alternative prizes, compensation, or any form of reimbursement if the winner cannot take up the prize as awarded.
8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
8.1 Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. The statutory rights of the Entrant are not affected.
9. OWNERSHIP OF COMPETITION ENTRIES AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
9.1 By submitting a competition entry and any accompanying material, the Relevant School (on behalf of the Entrant) agrees to:
(a) assign to the Promoter all intellectual property rights with full title guarantee; and
(b) waive all moral rights, in and to the competition entry and otherwise arising in connection with the entry to which entrants may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended from time to time and under all similar legislation from time to time in force anywhere in the world.
9.2 By submitting competition entries, the Relevant School (on behalf of the Entrant) confirms:
(a) the entry is an original work, is not defamatory and does not infringe third-party rights;
(b) There are no conflicting agreements in place that restrict usage of your entry;
(c) They have consent to use any third-party image/content in the entry and rights have been waived for such use. If a third-party image is of a person under 18, parental or guardian consent has been provided.
(d) They will provide any required consents at the Promoter’s request, failing which the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify you from the competition.
(e) Entrants’ may withdraw from the competition at any time until the determination of the winner by informing the Partner Agency at competitions@nationalschoolspartnership.com. Entrants’ right to get their personal data deleted is set out in the Partner Agency’s privacy notice.
10. DATA PROTECTION AND PUBLICITY
10.1 Entrants’ personal information will only be processed by the Partner Agency as set out in its privacy notice: https://nationalschoolspartnership.com/privacy-policy/. For the purposes of distributing the water butts to participating schools, if they have opted in to receive one during the initial registration process, The Promoter will only receive the personal information of the school and teacher submitting the entries.
10.2 For the purposes of promotion and delivery of the winning song/poem, The Promoter will only receive the details of the three shortlisted entries and not that of any other Entrant. By entering, the Relevant School consents to being contacted by The Promoter in the event that their Entrant is the chosen winner.
10.3 As required by the Advertising Standards Authority, the surname and county of the prize winner can be obtained by emailing competitions@nationalschoolspartnership.com and quoting “Affinity Water – Water Smart competition 2024”. By entering, the winner consents to such information being disclosed upon request. 11. GENERAL
11.1 The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
11.2 The prize competition will be governed by English law and entrants to the competition submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
